Turkic Council and WHO strengthen collaboration

Dr. Hans Henri Kluge, WHO Regional Director for Europe, and Turkic Council Secretary General Baghdad Amreyev discussed the implementation progress of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two organizations, signed in September this year. The document provides for the creation of a unified action plan for health and cooperation.

During a two-day consultation, the parties discussed the progress made on universal health services coverage, ensuring healthy lives for all through vaccination, and non-communicable diseases in Member States.

Particular emphasis was on the need to create additional WHO Collaborating Centers in the Turkic Council member states to facilitate the fulfillment of the plans.

A briefing was held with the heads of missions of various countries in Switzerland, including Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Hungary and Uzbekistan. WHO representatives in all the Turkic Council member states and observers made reports.

In his speech, Dr. Hans Kluge noted the high level of relations between the WHO Regional Office for Europe and the Turkic Council member states.
