Turkey: protecting democracy and maintaining unity

On Monday, July 15, Turkey will celebrate a new, but very significant and important public holiday for the country – the Day of Democracy and National Unity.

In honor of this date, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey Mustafa Kapucu held a meeting with representatives of local and foreign media in Ashgabat, during which it was noted that three years had passed since the day when the course of modern Turkey history could turn back. But the people who preserved national unity came to the defense of their country and democratic principles.

In October of the same year, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has proposed to establish a holiday in honor of the heroes who defended their homeland, democracy and law. Since then, this date is celebrated as a public holiday, which was called – the Day of Democracy and National Unity.

Turkmenistan and Turkey are important strategic partners cooperating in many areas of activity. The two friendly countries established diplomatic relations in the first months of independence of Turkmenistan.

The staff of the diplomatic mission expressed their gratitude to the Turkmen side for mutually beneficial cooperation and support, emphasizing that living in peace and harmony means the well-being and prosperity of the peoples.
