Iran has officially suspended fulfillment of a part of its obligations on a nuclear deal
Iran, from May 15, officially suspends the fulfillment of part of its obligations under the Joint Comprehensive Action Plan (IFAP), the ITNA agency reported on Wednesday with reference to a representative of the Atomic Energy Agency of the country.
According to the source, the decision was made by the Supreme National Security Council of Iran. It also indicated that Tehran, as it had warned earlier, could resume uranium enrichment work and stop upgrading the heavy-water reactor in Arak if the parties to the transaction do not fulfill the agreement’s requirements within 60 days.
Lavrov and Pompeo discussed US-Russia differences
Moscow and Washington are far from mutual understanding on many issues, although they are striving to improve their bilateral relations. Such statements after the talks in Sochi were made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo.
“We have differences over Venezuela. I called on the Russian colleague to support the people of Venezuela, who are returning democracy to their country. The United States and more than 50 states agreed that it was time for Nicholas Maduro to leave. From him, the people of Venezuela have some misfortunes,” said Michael Pompeo.
Disagreements appeared during the discussion of many issues, in particular, about Ukraine, about Iran, as well as about Russian interference in the American elections. Lavrov, however, called on the United States to cooperate.
“Since we are talking about the two largest nuclear powers, tensions between Russia and the United States inevitably have a negative impact on the overall situation in the world, so Mike Pompeo and I agreed that we should try to take practical steps to correct this situation. Russia is interested in the normalization of our dialogue,” said Sergey Lavrov.
During his visit to Sochi, Pompeo met with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Kremlin noted that they did not see any breakthroughs, but they felt a “businesslike attitude from the American side”.
The military and the opposition in Sudan have agreed on a transitional period
The Sudanese Military Transitional Council and representatives of the For Freedom and Change Alliance agreed on the duration of the transition period and on how to govern the country at that time. An agreement between the military and opposition forces was announced by Councilman Yasser Al-Atta:
“It was agreed that the transition period should last for three years. The first six months will be devoted to the signing of peace agreements necessary to end the war in our country.”
By agreement with the Military Council, in the transitional period in Sudan a parliament will be formed, two thirds of the seats in which would go to the deputies from the Alliance for Freedom and Change. The task of this legislative body is to prepare the Constitution, hold new elections and thereby ensure the transfer of power after the removal of President Omar al-Bashir, who has been the head of state for three decades.
Iraq followed Turkey in the issue of procurement of Russian weapons
The Iraqi government decided to buy the S-400 missile system, but there is no exact date, Iraqi ambassador to Russia Khaidar Mansur Hadi said.
“As for the C-400, there is yet no road map that would determine exact dates, movement along this path. The Iraqi government has made a decision; it wants to buy these missiles,” the ambassador said during a press conference in Moscow.
“As for the problems and the solution of these problems with the Americans, that is to be done through the relevant diplomatic channels,” he added, answering a question about the possible obstruction of the United States in the matter of this transaction.

A secret room found nder the palace of Emperor Nero
During the restoration of the palace of the Roman emperor Nero, archaeologists discovered a secret room, according to Science Alert.
According to scientists, the room, which was called the “Sphinx room”, was found in the “Golden House” of Nero. It is decorated with various frescoes, including the image of this mythical Egyptian creature.
In addition, images of dancing centaurs, birds, fish, and a drawing of a warrior fighting a panther with a sword and a bow were found on the walls of the room. Scientists do not exclude that there are more various patterns in the room, however, until it is filled with dirt. Clearing it is not planned yet because of the danger of collapse of structures.
The unfinished palace – “The Golden House” of Nero was abandoned in 68 AD after the death of the emperor.
