Human trafficking is a global problem which concerns lives of millions of people. Thereupon, it is important to raise awareness of society, involving mass-media in counteraction to human trafficking and illegal migration. A two-day training of the representation office of IOM in Turkmenistan, organised with the assistance of the embassy of Great Britain in Ashgabat is devoted this issue.
Representatives of media, public organisations and also students of profile high schools of the Turkmen capital take part in it.
On the first day instructors Vitaut and Lana Rudnik (republic of Belarus) told participants about what sources of information are necessary for using upon preparation of materials on the topic of counteraction to human trafficking how to uncover this or that aspect of a question.
It is an important problem with which it is necessary and important to cover. Indeed frequently people because of ignorance get into dangerous situations, – Vitaut Rudnik told. – The main thing is one should remember that behind each history there is a human destiny. And in this case journalistic materials should help the person to avoid or find a way out of such difficult situations.
According to the founder of the School of modern journalism, heroes of publications can be those people who are engaged to help victims of human trafficking. One should also write about them. After all such materials will be interesting and useful to readers.
Therefore the next day of the training will be devoted to creation of multimedia history on human trafficking subjects, and also preparation for a corresponding interview or a press conference.
