The voting for amendments to the constitution of Russia is held in Ashgabat and Turkmenbashi

The voting for amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation is held in Ashgabat and Turkmenbashi on Tuesday.

The corrective amendments to the voting procedure were brought by the pandemic. So, at the entrance to the polling district in Ashgabat which is opened in the consular department of the Russian embassy, to a voter an envelope with a pen for marks in the bulletin and a protective medical mask will be provided. In spite of the fact that in Turkmenistan cases of COVID infection is not fixed, with a view of strengthening of security measures in the polling district and voting, it is necessary to wear a protective mask.

As was explained in the embassy of the Russian Federation in Turkmenistan, the Russian citizens living in Turkmenistan and also those who are temporarily staying in the country and who have reached the age of 18 on the date of voting can take part in the voting. For voting they should show a valid passport of citizenship of the Russian Federation (foreign, diplomatic or service), and in case its absence – a certificate of entrance (returning) to Russia or a passport of a citizen of the USSR of the sample issued in 1974 with a mark about presence of citizenship of Russia.

Those who have taken part in the voting told at the exit of the polling district that they consider amendments to the Constitution of Russia are timely and necessary. As they said, amendments concerning privileges, pensions, medicine, cultures, strengthening of family and indivisibility of the territory of Russia are very close and clear for them.

Polling districts in Ashgabat and Turkmenbashi will be opened till 20.00. After that ballot-boxes will be sealed up and counting of votes will begin. As was informed in the embassy of the Russian Federation in Ashgabat, at 14.00 at the polling district 507 voters in Ashgabat and 81 voters in Turkmenbashi cast their votes.
