Deputy Chairman, Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov during online negotiations supported the soonest realisation of the Ashkhabad agreement on formation of the international transport-communication corridor «Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan – Iran – Oman» as the Sputnik Uzbekistan informs.
Political scientist, orientalist, expert on Central Asia Dmitry Verhoturov noted: the way lying through Turkmenistan and Iran, is very favourable for Uzbekistan as it is the shortest route to seaports.
«Usually the republic uses possibilities of St.-Petersburg or Novorossiysk but it turns out more long and more expensively. If Uzbekistan organises transportation of cargoes through Turkmenistan and Iran to Oman the economy of transportation becomes absolutely another, – Verhoturov told. – And the infrastructure of this way already exists, as Turkmenistan has constructed some connecting roads and is ready to accept cargoes».
According to the expert, for formation of this transport-communication corridor it is necessary to enter into only interstate agreements and to solve organizational issues.
The political scientist also marked that coronavirus does not influence almost cargo transportation as they can be carried out contract-free.
