The organising committee of the Olympic and Paralympic games in Tokyo plans to renew test events to the largest tournament in March, 2021. Organizers have published the updated calendar of 18 competitions in which measures of counteraction of COVID-19 will be introduced.
So, the Centre of water sports in Tokyo should carry out the first test action in 2021 when the qualifying Olympic tournament of the International federation of swimming for sports swimming from March 4 to March 7 will take place.
In April it is planned nine tournaments, and in May in the gymnastics centre will hold the World Cup of sports gymnastics in Tokyo and competitions in rhythmic gymnastics.
In May competitions in volleyball on the Ariake Arena, and also tournaments in track and field athletics and basketball 3×3 are planned.
Test competitions in sports climbing in city sports park Aomi which were held from March 6 to March 8, this year, were the last.
Organizers of Tokyo-2020 have announced that they will reconsider the maintenance of test tournaments which have been planned before postponement of the Games.
«In reply to the situation with COVID-19 we will introduce measures of counteraction to infections and we plan to conduct complex tests of various aspects of management by objects, including the reference with spectators on the chosen test events», – told in the Organizing committee statement.
Some aspects of test events still are under consideration.
Organizers work over a series of measures of counteraction of COVID-19 for protection of sportsmen and spectators during their stay in the Japanese capital. The governor of Tokyo Yuriko Koike has stated recently her hopes of carrying out the Games «with full presence of spectators».
