At the parliamentary hour in the Majlis of Kazakhstan, the country’s energy minister Kanat Bozumbayev told about prices for 92nd gasoline in various countries of the world. Bozumbayev had to give such a statement to parliamentarians because of the frequently asked question why petroleum products are expensive in Kazakhstan.
At the same time, the minister referred to the data of the independent agency Global petrol prices, which follows the prices for oil products in 167 countries.
“In the cost of gasoline, Kazakhstan takes the 12th position from the end, in diesel fuel – the 14th. Gasoline that is cheaper than ours is sold only in 11 of 167 countries. They are Venezuela, Iran, Kuwait, Turkmenistan. By diesel fuel, we are more expensive than 13 countries of the world – in Venezuela, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan,” the head of the Kazakhstan Ministry of Energy said.
To the arguments of parliamentarians that Kazakhstan is an oil-producing country, Bozumbaev answered that in such oil-producing countries as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the USA, Russia, Azerbaijan, gasoline costs more than in Kazakhstan.
In Turkmenistan, on February 1 this year, the cost of 95th gasoline rose by 50 percent and costs 1.5 manats per liter. At the current exchange rate it is equivalent to about 40 cents. And even with this increase, the cost of Turkmen gasoline remains one of the lowest in the region and the world.
