The development of the Uzynada field, located in the south-west of Turkmenistan, in the coastal zone of the Caspian Sea, will give a new impetus to the development of the country’s oil and gas sector. This was discussed at a government meeting held on April 19th.
An international group of companies ARETI (with its head office in Geneva, Switzerland) showed interest in mastering the resources of Uzynada. Last month, on March 28th, President Berdimuhamedov met with its leader, Igor Makarov. In addition to other issues, the parties discussed the participation of ARETI in projects to develop this field on the Block-21 of the Turkmen shelf of the Caspian Sea.
On the same day, Turkmenneft State Concern and ARETI IGC signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
As previously reported, a super-deep well (more than 7.1 thousand meters), which produced an industrial flow of gas, was drilled on the island of Uzynada, where hydrocarbon deposits were discovered in 2017.
