The Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant shipped more than 150 thousand tons of pipes for TAPI

The Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant OAO (“CMP”) put over 150 thousand tons of pipes for building of main gas pipeline TAPI (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan – India) as the Russian Business News Agency “Prime” informs.

Pipes in diameter of 1422 mm with an external anticorrosive covering from steel of class of durability Х70 are intended for building of linear part of gas pipeline TAPI in the territory of Turkmenistan. « The Group CHTPZ became the unique Russian company which has passed all stages of qualifying selection and offered the best terms of delivery among 94 participants of the tender», – as told in the news.

TAPI – the main gas pipeline with the extent of 1814 kilometres and throughput about 33 billion cubic metre of gas a year. The project realisation will allow delivering natural gas from Turkmenistan to Afghanistan, Pakistan and India.

The building of gas pipeline TAPI began in December, 2015. Russia, the USA, other states of the world, and also international financial institutions, including Asian Development bank expressed willingness to give support to this project.

As experts consider, TAPI will allow Turkmenistan to diversify its gas export, promote restoration of Afghanistan, and will also allow Pakistan and India to cover their demand for power resources.
