Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev invited colleagues and participants of the 1st KEF to Astrakhan for the 2nd Caspian Economic Forum.
“Our forum has a special task – to complement the multi-level system of cooperation within the Caspian five countries with an effective and modern mechanism of business, trade and economic cooperation, to buttress important political decisions with concrete mutually beneficial projects,” noted Medvedev in his speech.
As the head of the Russian government emphasized, the signing of the last-year Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea is a confirmation that the Caspian countries can find mutually beneficial solutions.
He also focused on the creation of optimal transport infrastructures, high-tech and safe production, unique tourism products. We need to focus precisely on these areas in the years immediately ahead.
– Even the ancients said that mountains protect and seas connect. This is especially true for our Caspian Sea. … It unites Europe and Asia, the five Caspian countries, their partners, and, of course, the people who live on its shores, – said Dmitry Medvedev in conclusion.
