A separate session of the X Gas Congress of Turkmenistan was devoted to the implementation of Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project. Representatives of the financial institutions of the countries-participants shared the promotion status of the project and methods of its financing.
– TAPI is a huge project for the whole region. At the beginning of the year, Turkmenistan and Pakistan signed several documents on it. By the end of the year, we hope to completely close the paper issues. There is still a little bit left and, then, we can start the practical implementation of the pipeline, ” Mr.Nadeem Baber, Special Assistant of the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Petroleum, said in an interview with ORIENT.
Today, the construction of TAPI pipeline received its second impulse. The first stage of implementation – the laying of the pipeline – the consortium supposes to complete in 2020.
The companies hope to add new countries to start the second stage – the construction of compressor stations along the energy route, which will increase its capacity.
Russian and Arab companies are showing interest in joining TAPI.
