The International Electricity Projects Department in the line of Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) was created within the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan.
This step was approved by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at a meeting with the leaders of the electric power sector – Deputy Prime Minister Charymyrat Purchekov and Minister of Energy Myrat Artykov.
The President emphasized the great importance of the TAP Project for the entire region, especially Afghanistan, to which Turkmenistan provides ongoing assistance in building a peaceful life, the Vatan Information Program of the Turkmen State Radio and Television reports.
The establishment of a separate Department for this area of work will facilitate the timely implementation of this project.
In view of extensive experience of Myrat Artykov in this field, the head of state appointed him the new department head, relieving him of the post of Minister of Energy.
The Turkmen leader said that it would be advisable to involve the capabilities of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of the country for the activities of the new Department.
The laying of the 500 kilovolt power line, which will run along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline, took place in February 2018 with the participation of the heads of state and government of these countries.
