A delegation of the political office of the Taliban, located in the capital of Qatar, Doha, paid a working visit to Uzbekistan. Representatives of one of the warring sides in Afghanistan held talks at the Uzbek Foreign Ministry.
“During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the prospects for the peace process in Afghanistan,” the Uzbek foreign ministry said in a statement.
Experts point out that the fact that the Taliban participate in negotiations on a peaceful settlement of the situation in Afghanistan is good news.
Turkmenistan has for a number of years advocated the organization of peace talks with the participation of all the warring sides in Afghanistan.
In addition, Turkmenistan believes that the negotiation process should be accompanied by economic assistance to Kabul and the country’s involvement in the implementation of large, infrastructure projects of regional importance.
