Tajikistan to hold presidential elections on October 11

The upper and lower houses of the Parliament of Tajikistan at a joint session set the date for presidential elections, according to the Sputnik Tajikistan. Elections of the head of Tajikistan are scheduled for October 11, 2020, the secretariat of the country’s parliament said.

Let us recall, the President of Tajikistan is elected for a term of 7 years. The current president of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, has been in office since November 1994.

Constitutional amendments adopted in 2016 would allow incumbent head of state Emomali Rahmon to run for office an infinite number of times.
