SPECA days in Ashgabat: focus – on economic connectivity of the region’s countries

Within the framework of Turkmenistan’s chairmanship in the UN Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA), high-level international events – SPECA Days will be held in Ashgabat next week, on November 18-21.

Among them are a Forum on trade policy of the countries participating in the SPECA program, initiated by Turkmenistan, meetings of working groups on sustainable transport and trade, as well as the Economic Forum “SPECA-2019”, where the document “Ashgabat initiative” is expected to be adopted. On November 21, it will be also held the 14th meeting of the SPECA Program Presidency.

While preparing for the forum, Turkmenistan closely cooperates with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).

The SPECA Program has been successfully implemented for more than twenty years by the countries of Central Asia together with Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, as well as with UNECE and ESCAP.
