The United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres called on the UN affiliated organizations and member states to cooperate and provide the necessary funds to support Iran’s efforts in countering coronavirus outbreak, Iranian State News Agency IRNA reports.

“Secretary General has voiced solidarity with the Iranian government and nation in the fight against the virus and appreciated them for their efforts to counter it,” spokesperson for the Secretary-General said, noting that Antonio Guterres believes that Iran can take advantage of UN institutes’ supports, including World Health Organization.

In addition, Culture and Islamic Guidance Minister of Iran Abbas Salehi urged people to stay home for Nowruz , Iranian media reported.

Let us recall, Iran first officially reported cases of the COVID-19 virus in Qom on February 19.

Kazakhstan confirms first coronavirus cases. Media reports it citing the statement of the Healthcare Minister of the country Yelzhan Birtanov. Two Kazakh citizens have tested positive for the coronavirus after returning from Germany.

Two patients were staying in a specialized hospital in Almaty. According to Birtanov, infected persons feel well and they have no clinical symptoms.
