Silk Way Rally 2020 may reroute due to coronavirus outbreak in China

The Silk Way Rally Raid Organizing Committee will modify the race route in case of any danger to the health of the participants due the outbreak of pneumonia caused by a new type of coronavirus, a press-service of the rally reports about it.

The track of the Silk Way Rally 2020 is laid on the territory of Russia, Kazakhstan and China. The rally-raid is scheduled to take place between July 3 and 16, 2020. For the first time, it will be the World Cup stage on rally-raid of the International Automobile Federation (FIA), and, for the second time, it will be the World Championship stage on cross-country rally of the International Motorcycle Federation (FIM).

“We offer our full support to all our Chinese partners and hope the situation will get better very soon. The final decision on the exact route of the rally will be made shortly,” Vladimir Chagin, head of the Silk Way Rally, said.

Earlier, the Chinese stages of Formula 1 and Formula E motorsport races were canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak.
