SCO China Committee wished ORIENT Happy New Year

The SCO China Committee for Good Neighborhood, Friendship and Cooperation sent a Season’s Greetings to ORIENT and its readers.

– We sincerely wish you a Happy New Year! Best wishes to you, your families and friends! We were pleased to meet you in the past year. We very much appreciate your support in promoting exchanges and cooperation between the media of the SCO countries.

The Committee also expressed the hope that this year will provide even more opportunities to establish closer ties for business cooperation, as well as joint participation in the “fate” of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is a multilateral association whose activities are aimed at ensuring security and maintaining stability in the vast Eurasian space, jointly countering new challenges and threats, and strengthening trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

The organization today consists of 8 countries such as India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. In addition, currently Belarus, Iran, Mongolia and Afghanistan have observer status in the organization. Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cambodia, Nepal, Turkey and Sri Lanka are dialogue partners.

Today, the SCO interests extend far beyond the initial agenda in the field of mutual intra-regional actions to prevent terrorist acts, separatism and extremism.

SCO is actively working in the field of economy. The Programme of Multilateral Trade and Economic Cooperation, signed in 2003, and designed for 20 years, provides for the establishment of a free trade zone in the organization’s space, and the intensification of a process of creating favorable conditions in the fields of trade and investments.

The cooperation between Turkmenistan and the SCO countries, and the organization itself, was steadily expanding last year. As President Berdimuhamedov pointed out at a meeting of the CIS Council of the Heads of Government in Ashgabat, the country will continue to work on diversifying the economy and energy supplies to fulfill its potential.

– We also see real prospects for engaging major continental integration structures in this work, participated by countries of the CIS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Eurasian Economic Community. I am convinced of the advisability of such collaboration, its compliance with common interests.

ORIENT hopes that 2020 will be a year of great opportunities for cooperation between the countries in many areas, and, of course, wishes the colleagues a Happy New Year and success in all endeavors.
