Russia will build the seaport Lagan on the Caspian Sea

The government of the Russian Federation has approved plans of the new seaport Lagan close the Caspian Sea.

The port will be located 9 km from the Caspian Sea – in the city of Lagan. As competitive advantages of seaport Lagan the mass-media of Kalmykia mark environmental conditions thanks to which it will be almost non-freezing seaport, capable to work all year long, and also a favourable transport -geographical position of the future seaport concerning the international transport corridor “North-South”.

The general planned total capacity of the seaport – 22,5 million tons of cargoes a year. The construction of the seaport Lagan under the present conditions has a geopolitical significance for Russia as it is created for the purpose of integration of a transport complex of one of the subjects of the Russian Federation – Republic of Kalmykia – into the world transport system by participation in formation of the international transport corridors.
