In June, Russia has been ahead of the United States in supplies of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to China, and Turkmenistan took the lead in deliveries of pipeline gas to China. This was reported by Bloomberg Agency with reference to the data of the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China.
Russia supplied 396 thousand tons of LNG to the PRC in June against 67 thousand tons in the same period last year. At the same time, in monthly terms, the indicator increased by 20.7%. Meanwhile, LNG imports from the United States in June amounted to 340 thousand tons, which is 2.4% more than in May this year. In June 2019, the US did not supply LNG to China.
The largest amount of LNG in the reporting month was imported by China from Indonesia (988 thousand tons), which is 2.6 times more in annual terms and 3.6 times in monthly terms. China’s total LNG imports in June amounted to 5.79 million tons, about 29% higher than a year ago.

In June, China imported from Russia 215 thousand tons of pipeline gas (approximately 0.26 billion cubic meters), increasing the rate by 3.8% as compared to May. Most of the pipeline gas was imported from Turkmenistan in the reporting month – 1.61 million tons (almost 2 billion cubic meters).
