Today in Avaza minister of finance and economy of Turkmenistan Batyr Bazarov held meetings with Ms. Maika Oshikawa, Director of Accessions Division of World Trade Organization and Werner Gruber, Executive Director of the World Bank.
High ranking representatives of international organizations have arrived in Turkmenistan for participation in the first Caspian economic forum and it has defined key themes for conversation with the management of Turkmen financial and economic department. Issues of bilateral interaction were also considered.
From the side of Turkmenistan an interest in cooperation with the WTO and the World Bank was expressed. A big work which has been done for last year in these directions was marked.
Turkmenistan studies the issue of accession to the WTO, in this plan experience of other states of the region on the influence on various branches of economy of mechanisms and WTO preferences were analysed. Together with experts of the World Bank the document «Commercial policy and the program of institutional reform» was prepared. The series of measures on perfection of infrastructure, legislation, simplification of procedures of trade with orientation to the WTO mechanisms was developed.
Within the limits of regular missions of the World Bank in Turkmenistan priority spheres of cooperation are also studied. It includes the training of personnel for the financial system of the country, consultation concerning macroeconomic, development of financial markets, financial monitoring. Important directions are water problem and ecology.
On the sidelines of the CEF-2019 the conclusion the Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of expansion of export possibilities of Turkmenistan between the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan and the International financial corporations (entering into structure of the WB) is expected.
On August 11 the seminar WTO Accession where Ms. Maika Oshikawa will speak, will take place and will present mandate, negotiating process and technical steps and tell of the role of the WTO in the international commercial policy and influence of the WTO membership on the resource-based economy.
Werner Gruber will speak on August, 12th at the first session of the CEF on the topic «Trade and economic cooperation in the Caspian region».
