Regular online meetings: TAPI, Turkmen-Belgian cooperation, training via video communication

Representatives of Turkmenistan, led by Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov, held an online meeting with Director General of the Asian Development Bank for Central and West Asia Werner Liepach and other ADB staff.

Discussed topics included the implementation of the TAPI gas pipeline project, the implementation of the North-South railway project, and cooperation in the electric power industry. In addition, priority areas for future partnership were identified.

Also today, consultations between the Turkmen and Belgian representatives of the foreign affairs agencies took place in the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan in video mode. The delegation of Belgium was headed by Anick van Kalster, Director General for Bilateral Relations of the Federal State Service for Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation of the Kingdom of Belgium.

The topics of the substantive conversation were cooperation in the political, trade, economic and humanitarian spheres, as well as in the field of energy.

Agency “Turkmenaragatnashyk” (“Turkmensvyaz”) held an online meeting with the representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Turkmenistan Christine Weigand.

UNICEF, according to a representative of the fund, is implementing a number of projects in Turkmenistan, in particular, broadcasting social advertisements on the prevention of infectious diseases on Turkmen TV channels, and systematically sending SMS with medical advice to cellular subscribers. Christine Weigand suggested using the Internet to spread the rules of caring for their health among the country’s population.

They also discussed the organization of training sessions for students of Turkmen schools and universities via digital video communication.
