Racers went to the track of the Great Silk Road

Opening the prologue of the eco-rally-raid “Amul-Hazar 2018” President Berdimuhamedov talked with Jean-Louis Schlesser – the head of the group of organizers of the race in the Karakum desert.

The Turkmen leader called the rally-marathon a sporting holiday, which unites the peoples. Speaking about the international significance of this competition, Berdymukhamedov noted that its purpose is to bring the revival of the Great Silk Road to a new stage

During the competition, athletes will see the Great Silk Road from Amul to Hazar, the head of state said, stressing that this will affect the further spread and development of the idea of recreating this ancient route.

The five-stage race started today involving more than 80 teams representing 20 countries will be completed on Saturday and will serve as a qualifying tournament for a longer, two-week rally in three African countries next year.

French ex-racer Jean-Louis Schlesser, who owns the brand “Africa Eco Race”, speaking yesterday at the opening ceremony of the rally “Amul-Khazar”, thanked the participants who came to the competitions in Turkmenistan, noting that among them there are racers with big names.

Among the most famous pilots, for example, are Russian Ayrat Mardeev, Briton Harry Hunt, Spaniard Nani Roma, etc. At the same time, the Turkmen race is also open to fans. Seven crews participate in it outside of the offset.
