Speaking at the International conference «Turkmenistan and international organisations: cooperation for peace and development», Ms. Christine Weigand, the head of the representation of the United Nations Children’s Fund in Turkmenistan let us know that for the UNICEF 2020 has a special significance.
– In the current year we hope to reach several major landmarks in partnership with Turkmenistan, – Ms Weigand underlined.
As she said, the signing of the new Memorandum of mutual understanding on purchase of vaccines for 2021-2025 is expected.
The development of the program for 2020 which provides gradual introduction of one-year preschool preparation for all children at the age of 5 years has become a result of teamwork of the UNICEF with the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan. Besides it, the teamwork for revision of standards of teaching at Turkmen schools is expected so that children are better prepared for requirements of the modern market.
In 2020 the UNICEF will give a start to the first joint program between the government of Turkmenistan and numerous agencies of the United Nations. The project financed by the Sustainable Development Goals Fund, presents partnership between UNICEF, UNDP, UNFPA, UNODC and also the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, Ministries of Education and Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan. It will be engaged in development of inclusive, high-quality social services according to the Program of Social and Economic development of Turkmenistan for 2019-2025 and the National action plan the on rights of the child.
Besides it, this year the UNICEF will submit to the Executive Council a new five years’ program of cooperation with Turkmenistan for 2021-2025. Being based on numerous achievements of previous years, it will be aimed at further expansions of partnership for interests of children.
– I would like to state again my personal adherence to the strengthening of partnership for all children in Turkmenistan, – Ms. Christine Weigand said in conclusion.
