President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov instructed the government to closely monitor the epidemiological situation in the region and in the world, the Turkmen television reported on the Vatan news program.
Speaking at an expanded government meeting on video communications, the head of state recalled that preventive measures were taken in Turkmenistan to prevent the virus from getting into the country, as soon as it became known about the outbreak of coronavirus infection in China.
Enhanced quarantine control was introduced at the border, all arrivals were checked on a thermal scanner and were taken under medical supervision. Air traffic was limited to countries where the spread of the disease was recorded, and the return of Turkmen citizens from abroad was organized. The entry of foreigners has been suspended.
Berdimuhamedov further charged with constant monitoring of the epidemiological situation in the world and, if necessary, correcting restrictive measures. “All decisions we make are aimed exclusively at protecting the health of citizens,” said the President.
