Ashgabat and Bucharest intensify economic cooperation


The seventh meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Romanian Commission took place in Ashgabat, which considered the practical implementation bilateral agreements, including those fixed in documents signed at the highest level.
Turkmenistan's actively promoted projects in the oil and gas industry and transport were also on the agenda. In particular, the Romanian side showed interest in acquiring the products of the Turkmen gas chemical industry and in establishing links between the second most important port on the Black Sea - Constanta - and the largest Turkmenbashi international port in the Caspian Sea, which is being prepared for opening in the coming days.
The sides also discussed in detail the development of trade and economic relations and business contacts, cooperation in the textile industry, in the development of which Turkmenistan has achieved certain successes, the agro-industrial complex, etc.
The humanitarian sphere did not remain untouched, too. The parties talked about increasing quotas for Turkmen students sent to study in Romanian universities; the guests announced the proposal to hold Days of Romanian Culture in Turkmenistan this year.
The possibility of expanding the supply of pharmaceuticals to Turkmenistan has been discussed in the health care sector.
At the end of the session, in addition to the traditional Protocol, the co-chairs of the IGC signed their Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Finance of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Business Environment, Trade and Entrepreneurship of Romania on cooperation in the economic sphere.
During the visit, the Romanian delegation held meetings in the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, the Foreign Ministry and the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.
