Kazakhstan has announced plans to build an undersea fiber optic communication line across the Caspian Sea

The construction of the fiber optic communication line, which is set to begin in 2025, was announced in Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan's Prime Minister, Olzhas Bektenov, stated that the new cable line will span 380 kilometers and have a capacity of 400 terabits per second. The project will require an investment of over 50 million dollars.

In 2023, the Kazakh company Kazakhtelecom and the Azerbaijani company AzerTelecom signed an agreement to establish a joint venture for the implementation of this project, which will be called Caspinet B.V. Each party will hold 50% of the shares. The main route of the line will run from the Kazakh city of Aktau to the Azerbaijani city of Siyazan. This construction will not only improve communication between the two countries but also create new opportunities for the development of telecommunications infrastructure in Central Asia.
