Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation: Relations with Turkmenistan demonstrate positive dynamics
04.11.2020 | 16:06 |Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Andrei Rudenko noted that relations between Moscow and Ashgabat are showing positive dynamics, which is also reflected in the increase in trade turnover.
At a meeting of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, Andrei Rudenko reminded that recently, against the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic, Russia received from Turkmenistan a humanitarian aid amounting to about $1 million.
“Turkmenistan is probably the only Central Asian country that provided humanitarian aid to Russia during the pandemic”, he said. “It sent a large consignment of food, oil and other products [worth] almost $1 million to Astrakhan”.

Furthermore the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry informs that a humanitarian cargo weighing about 1000 tons was transferred to the Russian party “as part of cooperation between the countries based on the principles of strategic partnership”.
In particular, assistance was provided in the form of Turkmen goods, including textiles, construction materials, food.
“The Russian party is deeply grateful to Turkmenistan for this gesture of friendship and good neighborliness, which is especially valued in the current difficult situation caused by the global pandemic of the new coronavirus infection”, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s statement specified.
The Ministry added that the provided products will be sent to medical institutions. First of all, it will be delivered to clinics involved in the fight against coronavirus, as well as organizations providing social support to citizens at risk.
