There are four medalists in the Olympic history of Tajikistan - in addition to gold in hammer throwing, there is also silver in freestyle wrestling and two bronze medals in boxing and judo. A lifetime allowance for athletes will now be paid monthly. However, this is not the only material support for the champions.
"Athletes who have successfully performed at major international competitions receive worthy gifts, apartments, cars from the Chairman of the city of Dushanbe, Rustami Emomali. Also, 17 athletes of Tajikistan were awarded an Olympic scholarship," said the Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Tajikistan, Muhammadsho Abdullozoda.
According to official data, the monthly payout will be set depending on the prize places. Therefore, for the first place, the winners in individual and team Olympic sports will receive 50 indicators for calculations, for the second place – 30 indicators, and for the third – 20. Now one indicator for calculations is 68 somoni.
However, if the athlete is sanctioned, the payment will be canceled for life. Also, the grounds for deprivation of a lifetime financial payment are violation of sports ethics and performances at international competitions for a foreign country.
