Turkmenistan will study the issue of opening branches of foreign universities
27.01.2023 | 00:58 |Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov proposed to study the issues of opening branches of foreign higher educational institutions at Turkmen universities, speaking at a visiting meeting of the country's Cabinet of Ministers held in Mary on Thursday.
As the Deputy Prime Minister noted, great attention is being paid to youth support in Turkmenistan, the legislative platform of this sphere is being improved, in which the State Program for 2021-2025 was approved.
Tasks related to youth are also identified among the key items on the UN agenda, Meredov noted. He mentioned that since 1985, the Global Congress on Youth Issues has been operating under the patronage of UNESCO. These issues are also on the agenda of other UN structures.
Development of a Strategy for international cooperation of Turkmen youth. It can become a basis for more active participation of young Turkmen citizens in interaction with their foreign peers, the Minister of Foreign Affairs said. In this context, he proposed to study the establishment of an International Center for Young Diplomats on the basis of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, as well as the opening of branches of foreign higher educational institutions at the country's universities.
In order to exchange best practices in the field of education, it was proposed to intensify cooperation in this line with the UN, OSCE, EU, CIS.
Based on the instructions given by the head of state, such measures as the creation of a National High-Tech Center in Turkmenistan, the intensification of dialogue in the field of culture and sports with the development of the "Young Talents" program and the organization of international youth games in Turkmenistan with the prospect of their regular holding should also be reflected in the said Strategy of international Cooperation of Turkmen youth.
Summarizing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that youth policy is today among the important vectors of the state strategy for both internal development and external activities. In this regard, the Head of state called for the activation of international relations in the field of youth, including in the field of education, including the invitation of authoritative lecturers, famous scientists and mentors to Turkmenistan, as well as in the field of high technologies.
