Turkmenistan's foreign policy has received further recognition at the highest international level. During a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Friday, May 22, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov reported on the country's latest diplomatic success in the arena of the Community of Nations. At the 82nd plenary meeting of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the resolution "The Role and Significance of the Policy of Neutrality in Maintaining and Strengthening International Peace, Security and Sustainable Development," initiated by Turkmenistan, was unanimously adopted.
The new resolution establishes the institution of neutrality as an effective instrument of preventive diplomacy, the peaceful resolution of disputes, and the development of sustainable multilateral relations in today's geopolitical realities.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the General Assembly's unanimous support for the document is a great honor for the country. The head of Turkmenistan placed particular emphasis on the fact that dozens of countries not only voted for the document but also became its official co-authors, which clearly demonstrates Ashgabat's high standing as a recognized center of peacekeeping.
