During a regular Cabinet of Ministers meeting on Friday, May 22, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov gave his official blessing to the start of the 2026 national grain harvest and approved the regional harvest schedule.
According to the head of state's decision, grain growers in the Ahal, Lebap, and Mary velayats will begin the mass wheat harvest on June 3, while farmers in the Balkan and Dashoguz velayats will join the campaign a little later, on June 10.
In keeping with tradition, honorary elders will launch the harvest directly in the fields, where scientific and practical seminars featuring scientists, experienced agronomists, and machine operators will be held the day before.
The announcement of the harvesting dates was preceded by a detailed report from Deputy Prime Minister Tangryguly Atakhalliyev on the state of the country's agro-industrial complex. It was noted that vegetation work, including inter-row cultivation, thinning, and mineral fertilizer application, is in full swing in Turkmenistan's cotton fields.
Rice sowing has already begun in the northern Dashoguz region, and rice farmers in Lebap are also actively preparing for it. Meanwhile, the early harvest of potatoes, vegetables, and melons has been organized across the country's agricultural lands to ensure an uninterrupted supply for domestic markets. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov ordered strict oversight of all seasonal agricultural work and wished Turkmen farmers great achievements.
