On May 22, the photo exhibition “Turkmenistan is the heart of the Great Silk Road” will open in the St. Petersburg’s Park “Russia is my history”.
The Branch of the Humanitarian Association of World Turkmens in St. Petersburg and the North-West of Russia, the Turkmen Culture Society in the northern capital “Mekan” and the Cultural Center “Near East” will organize the art show.
The photo exhibit will display the monuments of ancient civilizations and architectural works of the middle centuries, which are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List – the Nisa Fortress, Ancient Merv, Gonur Depe, Anau, Kunya-Urgench and many others. Along with historical places, visitors can be acquainted with the modern white marble Ashgabat, which impresses with its splendor and architectural originality.
The beautiful nature of Turkmenistan, such as mountain waterfalls, the Karakum Desert, the fascinating Darvaza Gas Crater, which is one of the most attractive tourist places of the country, will be presented also.
Representatives of the administration of St. Petersburg, the head of the national cultural associations of the city, as well as cultural and art figures will attend the opening ceremony. As part of the program, visitors will also be acquainted with the folklore heritage of the countries along which the Great Silk Road passed.
The exhibition will last until June 25.
