Olympic flame – in Fukushima, Wimbledon canceled and other sports news

Tokyo 2020 Olympic flame delivered to Fukushima Northeast Japan Prefecture. The symbol of the Olympics is available at the J-Village National Training Center. It was there that the “grand start” of the torch relay was to take place before the transfer of the Games due to COVID-19 to 2021.

The Olympic flame was ignited on March 12 at Ancient Olympia in Greece and delivered to Japan on March 20. The organizers of the Games note that the flame of Tokyo 2020 has gained particular importance, being a beacon of hope for all countries of the world in these difficult times.

The Olympic Games will be held from July 23 to August 8, 2021.


For the first time in 75 years, the biggest tennis competitions, one of the four Wimbledon 2020 Grand Slam tournaments was postponed due to an outbreak of coronavirus infection. The 134th Wimbledon tournament, which has not been canceled since the Second World War, was supposed to be held from June 29 to July 12 this year on the courts of the All-English club of lawn tennis and croquet. Now it will be held from June 28 to July 11, 2021.

In a statement published by the organizers of the competition, it says: “First of all, we think about the health and safety of all those who come together at Wimbledon – visitors from all over the world, players, volunteers, partners.”

“It’s a pity to hear that there will be no tournament this year. The last ending will forever remain one of the happiest days in my life! However, we were faced with something more serious than tennis. And Wimbledon will be back!”, Wrote Romanian tennis player Simone Halep on her page on the social network.
