The use of the capabilities of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport and the development of ties with the ports of the Astrakhan region were one of the topics discussed at the meeting between President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the Governor of the Astrakhan Region of the Russian Federation Igor Babushkin, who arrived in Ashgabat on a visit during these pre-holiday days.
The Head of State called for a more detailed study by Turkmen departments and representatives of the private sector of the conditions of the Astrakhan special economic zones for expanding investment cooperation, it was reported in the evening news release of the national State Television on Monday, September 25.
As it was said in the information, the governor of the largest region of the Russian Federation congratulated the president on the 32nd anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence, addressing wishes of well-being and prosperity to the Turkmen people.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that strengthening and further expansion of constructive dialogue with Russia, including with its regions, is one of the priorities of Turkmenistan's foreign policy.
It was stated that recently the relations between Turkmenistan and the Astrakhan region have been characterized by active dynamics.
The President of Turkmenistan also recalled the meeting in April of this year, when participants of the Caspian - Sea of Friendship motorcycle race headed by Igor Babushkin visited the country, and said that such events serve to strengthen mutual understanding between the peoples of the region and contribute to the disclosure of promising areas of cooperation.
