Representatives of Turkmenistan discussed the implementation of the TAP project with the Ministry of Energy of Afghanistan
19.09.2023 | 08:32 |The head of the Office of Trans-Afghan Electric Power Projects of the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan, Myrat Artykov, met with the acting Minister of Energy and Water Resources of Afghanistan, Mullah Abdul Latif Mansur, with whom he discussed the implementation of the TAP (Turkmenistan - Afghanistan - Pakistan) power transmission project, DABS reports. The parties also touched upon the issues of modernizing the Nur al-Jihad substation, located in Herat.
The need to hold a tripartite meeting to implement the TAP project was emphasized with a view to its speedy completion. The Turkmen side supported the proposal to organize a trilateral meeting, assuring the Afghan minister of continued cooperation along this line.
In addition, it is reported that the parties discussed the export of Turkmen electricity to Afghanistan by 2024. In this context, the commissioning of a new substation in Herat will increase the supply of electricity to the neighboring republic from 70 to 110 megawatts.
The bilateral meeting took place on Afghan territory.
