Oriented on making people closer

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, speaking at the plenary session of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, proposed convening a High-Level Meeting on the occasion of World Sustainable Transport Day.

The head of state noted that in recent years the UN General Assembly has adopted six resolutions in the field of transport initiated by Turkmenistan, including the resolution establishing World Sustainable Transport Day.

“In this regard, based on the provisions of the resolution, Turkmenistan proposes to convene a high-level meeting on the occasion of World Sustainable Transport Day within the framework of the current session. We hope for the assistance of the relevant UN structures in organizing this event in New York,” the President of Turkmenistan said, TDH reports.

The resolution on the proclamation of World Sustainable Transport Day was adopted by the UN General Assembly on the initiative of Turkmenistan on May 16, 2023. The date of this day was approved November 26, it was on this day in 2016 that the first Global Conference on Sustainable Transport was held in Ashgabat.
