 The Prime Minister of Pakistan spoke in favor of strengthening economic partnership with Turkmenistan

Turkmenistan's Ambassador to Islamabad Atajan Movlamov met with Acting Prime Minister of Pakistan Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar on Tuesday. The diplomat conveyed to the Prime Minister the congratulations of the Turkmen leadership on his appointment to this high post.

During the conversation, the Prime Minister stressed that excellent fraternal ties have developed between Pakistan and Turkmenistan, and expressed hope that these relations will continue to develop further. He emphasized the need to focus on cooperation in trade, energy, economic ties and people-to-people contacts, highlighting the importance of boosting energy projects, the Pakistani TV channel PTV reported.

The Ambassador of Turkmenistan confirmed his readiness to develop partnership on these specific projects, as well as to expand the overall scale and breadth of bilateral relations.

Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar headed the interim Government of Pakistan, which was sworn in on August 17, 2023. The previous cabinet resigned after the early dissolution of Parliament on August 9 (according to the constitution, general elections must be held within 90 days).
