Applications for the Lorenzo Natali International Media Award are open

Applications for the 31st Lorenzo Natali Media Award have started, according to the page of the EU Delegation to Turkmenistan on Instagram.

This award is the leading award given annually by the European Commission for International Partnership to journalists from around the world covering issues of human rights and democracy, sustainable development, environmental protection, migration and employment, etc.

You can apply online until April 28 by link.

Journalists can submit written, audiovisual or multimedia works in one of the following categories:

International Award. It is awarded for a report published in the media or broadcast in one of the partner countries of the European Union.

European Prize — for reporting in the media of the countries of the European Union.

Prize for the best aspiring journalist: for a report by a journalist under the age of 30 in the media or broadcast in one of the countries eligible for international and European awards.

Applications are open for media works in any language. But they must be accompanied by a translation into one of the languages of the competition: English, French, Spanish, German or Portuguese.

A jury consisting of world-renowned journalists and representatives of non-governmental organizations from around the world will select the winners in each of their three categories. The prize fund of the award is 10 thousand euros.

It should be noted that the winner in the nomination "The Best aspiring journalist" will also be offered cooperation with a media partner.

The award was established in 1992 in honor of Lorenzo Natali, an Italian politician, European Commissioner, defender of freedom of speech, democracy, human rights and development. He played an important role in the EU accession process of Greece, Spain and Portugal.
