The Turkmen weightlifter became the silver medalist of the youth World Championship-2023

Turkmen weightlifter Perhat Bagtyyarov won a silver medal on the second day of the 2023 Youth World Weightlifting Championship in Durres (Albania).

The seventeen-year-old weightlifter became the vice-champion of the tournament in the weight category up to 61 kg. According to the results of two disciplines, Bagtyyarov showed a result of 258 kg (114 +144), thereby losing the first place to Filipino Delos Santos, who took a total weight of 259 kg (110 +149). K. Broom from Vietnam was in the third position — 258 kg (113+142).

Recall that the Turkmen national team is represented by nine weightlifters at the current tournament.

The men's team was formed by: Nurbek Azamatov (weight category up to 49 kg), Perhat Bagtyyarov (up to 61 kg), Didarbek Jumabayev (up to 67 kg) and Suleyman Jafarov (up to 96 kg).

In the women's part of the competition, Turkmenistan will be represented by: Shebnam Kerimbayeva (up to 40 kg), Ogulshat Amanova (up to 45 kg), Medina Amanova (up to 59 kg), Gulyalek Kakamyradova (up to 64 kg) and Anamjan Rustamova (up to 81 kg).

The Junior World Weightlifting Championship is an annual competition held under the auspices of the IWF. The current tournament brought together over three hundred weightlifters from 61 countries aged 13 to 17 years, who are contesting medals in 20 weight categories. The championship, which started on March 25, will end on April 1.
