On March 15, in the Hungarian city of Kiskunfeledyhaz, an awards ceremony for the winners of the International Creative Competition for the best translation into the national language of an excerpt from the poem "Love and Freedom" by the famous Hungarian poet Sandor Petofi took place. Thanks to the pen of the Turkmen poet Akmurad Rejepov, the quatrain can now be read in the Turkmen language.

Among the winners are also poets from other member states of TURKSOY - Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkey.

The award ceremony was timed to coincide with the 200th anniversary of the birth of the Hungarian poet Sandor Petofi. The anniversary is widely celebrated this year in the country with cultural and creative events. The winning poets also took part in the events that took place in different locations. They visited the Sandor Petofi Literary Museum in Budapest, witnessed the opening of monuments to the great poet in the village of Jassentlaszlo and the village of Morisgat.

The guests also paid an introductory visit to John von Neumann University, the newest educational institution in Hungary, where they were told about the unique study programs of the university. After the tour "moved" to the house of Sandor Petofi, which is located in the city of Kecskemet. Now this cultural platform is a museum, where everything has remained unchanged, as during the life of the great poet.

In Budapest, the Vice-Speaker of the Hungarian Parliament, Sandor Lezhak, who is known in the country not only as a politician, but also as a famous poet, met with the winners of the competition. He discussed with his colleagues the prospects for the development of literary relations with the member states of TURKSOY and the possibility of implementing projects related to translation activities.

For Akmurad Redzhepov, this is the first award in an international competition. Although, he repeatedly became the winner of the national creative competition "Altyn Asyr". His works were published in Uzbek, Iranian and other publications, and in 2014 his author's collection of poems was published.

He has been translating for a long time, and with his filing in the Turkmen language, one can read the poems of famous Azerbaijani, Kazakh, Uzbek, Karakalpak and other poets.
