The Turkmen weightlifter won the gold medal at the Junior World Championship in Albania

Turkmen weightlifter Medine Amanova won the gold medal at the Youth World Championship-2023, which is being held in Durres (Albania).

This success was achieved by a 17-year-old pupil of the capital's School of Higher Sports Skills in the weight category up to 59 kg. In the sum of the two types of exercise, Amanova showed a result of 199 kg: 90 kg in the snatch and 109 kg in the jerk.

The silver award went to the Ecuadorian Jessica Palacios — 195 (88+107). The athlete from Albania Enkileda Karja — 187 (87 + 100) rose to the third step of the podium.

Earlier, gold was brought to the national team by *Ogulshat Amanova * in the weight category up to 45 kg. In the sum of two exercises, the Turkmen athlete performed with a total of 156 kg: 71 kg in the snatch and 85 kg in the clean and jerk.

Perhat Bagtyyarov became the vice-champion of the tournament in the weight up to 61 kg. According to the results of two disciplines, the seventeen—year-old athlete showed a result of 258 kg (114 +144).

The composition of the Turkmen delegation to the youth championship was formed by 13 people, including 9 athletes. Weightlifters from Turkmenistan perform at the world Championship under the leadership of Gurbandurdy Amanov and Ahmed Saryev.

The Junior World Weightlifting Championship is an annual competition held under the auspices of the IWF. The current tournament brought together over three hundred weightlifters from 61 countries aged 13 to 17 years, who will contest medals in 20 weight categories. The tournament, which started on March 25, will end on April 1.
