President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed at an extraordinary summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) to establish in Tashkent a center for monitoring and analyzing natural disasters within the framework of the OTS. This was reported by the press service of the Uzbek President.

Uzbekistan chairs the OTS in 2023. The organization includes Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey and Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Hungary participate as observers. At an extraordinary summit in Ankara, its participants discuss the consequences of the earthquake in Turkey and the coordination of efforts in disaster prevention.

"I am convinced that you will approve the initiative put forward by us on this basis to create a center for monitoring and analysis of natural disasters within the organization and its location in Tashkent," Mirziyoyev said at the summit.

The President of Uzbekistan noted that, despite the achievements in scientific and technological fields, the task of forecasting and early warning of earthquakes, mudflows and floods, forest fires, and hurricanes is still relevant.

"Undoubtedly, a deep study of these processes, the widespread introduction of scientific and technological innovations in the sphere will have a great positive effect," Mirziyoyev added.
