The International Theater Festival of the CIS countries will be held in the Northern capital of the Russian Federation in April

The International Theater Festival "Meetings in Russia" will be held traditionally in St. Petersburg from April 14 to 17. Creative collectives and troupes of theaters from Russia, CIS countries and neighboring countries will present their performances at the forum. The main venues for screenings and events will be the Large and Small Stages of the Baltic House Theater-Festival, which is the organizer of the holiday, reports spbcult.ru.
The festival is attended by Russian theaters operating outside the Russian Federation and annually present their best performances on the St. Petersburg stage, opening up new opportunities for cultural exchange and the creation of joint international projects.
The program of the theater forum will also include a "Fair of Young Directing", where students and graduates of the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts will present projects of future productions.
The festival "Meetings in Russia" celebrates its quarter-century anniversary this year. It was first held by the Baltic International Festival Center in 1998 and became the first and only festival of Russian-speaking theaters of the CIS and Baltic countries in Russia. Since then, the creative event has been held annually with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Federal Agency for CIS Affairs.
The forum is also supported by the International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo), the Committee on Culture and the Committee on External Relations of St. Petersburg, the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS member States and the Union of Theatrical Figures of the Russian Federation.
For 25 years, almost all collectives from the republics of the former USSR with the status of Russian-speaking theaters have been represented at the St. Petersburg festival - more than 70 collectives took part, almost 250 performances were played.
