President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with US Assistant Secretary of State Donald Lu

On Monday, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu.
At the beginning of the meeting, the American diplomat announced the US interest in strengthening relations with Turkmenistan, and the head of state noted that he was glad to have the opportunity to discuss the development of a dialogue in order to give a new impetus to cooperation.
The Turkmen leader and US Assistant Secretary of State spoke in favor of multifaceted cooperation at the bilateral and multilateral levels, including at the UN and other international platforms. It was noted that neutral Turkmenistan makes a significant contribution to the achievement of mutual understanding and the establishment of trust in the world arena. This was reported in the evening newscast of the Turkmen television.
According to the national news service, the parties discussed the possibilities of building up trade and economic ties, highlighting in this context the role of the Turkmen-American Business Council, initiating business forums, exhibitions and other events aimed at enhancing contacts between government agencies and business circles of both countries, implementing joint investment and commercial projects.
In addition, Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Donald Lu paid attention to cooperation in the field of culture, science and education, in the field of technology, projects to study and preserve the unique historical monuments of Turkmenistan. Today, topical environmental and climate issues are also joining these traditional areas of partnership.
