The President of Turkmenistan took part in a mass planting campaign
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part in a massive planting campaign that took place in Turkmenistan on Saturday, November 5. The head of state gave a start to planting trees throughout the country in the southern suburbs of Ashgabat, on the territory of a vast forest park zone created near the giant monument to Magtymguly Fragi.
The nationwide environmental campaign was also supported by the head of the Halk Maslakhaty - the Upper House of the Turkmen Parliament - Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who took part in planting trees in the new administrative center of the Akhal region.
"Green belts" are being created and expanded around all the settlements of Turkmenistan. In general, more than 145 million trees have been planted in recent years during such planting campaigns, in which top officials of the country, the leadership corps, representatives of all departments and organizations, students, as well as foreign diplomats take part.
In April of this year, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe noted Ashgabat with a special certificate for its contribution to the implementation of the international program "Trees in Cities".
