The delegation of Turkmenistan takes part in the CA-Republic of Korea Forum in Seoul
The delegation of Turkmenistan headed by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov is on a working visit to Seoul to participate in the 15th Central Asia-Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum.
The agenda of the Forum includes issues of cooperation in the fields of healthcare, digitalization, tourism, environment and economic security.
The event is attended by the heads of the foreign ministries of the Central Asian states and the Republic of Korea, as well as representatives of relevant ministries and departments, academic and expert circles. A number of bilateral meetings are also planned within the framework of the visit of the Turkmen delegation.
Thus, Rashid Meredov met on Monday with the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Kim Jin Pyo. The sides exchanged views on inter-parliamentary cooperation and strengthening economic ties in such areas as energy and infrastructure, the Korean edition of News Today writes.
They also discussed the possibility of Korean companies participating in major gas chemical projects in Turkmenistan, in particular, the construction of a GTL (Gas to Liquid) plant worth 4 billion US dollars. The topic of expanding Korean language teaching in Turkmen schools and other educational institutions, both in the capital and in other regions, was touched upon.
They also discussed issues of intensifying bilateral cooperation in the field of scientific diplomacy, including in the field of healthcare. The head of the South Korean parliament noted the importance of the Central Asian region in Seoul's foreign policy strategy as a key hub between East and West.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Korea Begench Durdyev, Chairman of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan Dovran Khudaiberdyev.
The 3rd annual meeting of its Economic Council, which will be held on October 26 in Busan, is timed to coincide with the 15th Central Asia-Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum.
At the meeting, it is planned to discuss plans for economic exchange between the regions under the theme "Finding opportunities for cooperation between Korea and Central Asia in response to changes in the global economic environment and proposals for projects of advisory bodies."
The issues of cooperation in the field of e-commerce, technology transfer and interaction in the organization of trade supply chains will be considered.
