Serdar Berdimuhamedov: all problems in the region should be solved on the principles of good neighborliness

All problems in the region should be solved by peaceful means, on the principles of good neighborliness, mutual respect and equality, the President of Turkmenistan said during a briefing following talks with the head of Uzbekistan held in Ashgabat on Friday.

"We consider categorically unacceptable interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states of the region, attempts to destabilize the political situation through the use of extremist, radical elements," said Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

According to the national news service in the evening broadcast, the Turkmen leader stressed at the briefing that Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan speak from the same or similar positions on the main issues of the global agenda. These include maintaining peace and stability, countering the threats of international terrorism and extremism, and resolving the situation in Afghanistan.

The parties reaffirmed their strong commitment to the full integration of Afghanistan into the economy of the region through its participation in energy, transport, and communication projects. In this regard, Serdar Berdimuhamedov highly appreciated the high-level international conference "Afghanistan: Security and Economic Development" held in Tashkent in July.

According to the Turkmen leader, one of the topics of the talks was cooperation on the Aral track, including at the site of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea.

The key aspect of the Turkmen-Uzbek dialogue is trade and economic partnership. In this context, both countries are aimed at expanding business contacts and new cooperation projects. The strategic direction is the development of transport and logistics cooperation.
