Afghanistan hosts a bike ride along the route of the TAPI gas pipeline

“TAPI is a Symbol of Peace” – under such a slogan, a cycling march is taking place these days along the route of the Afghan section of the future Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline. This was reported to ORIENT in the diplomatic department of Turkmenistan.

Nine cyclists led by Abdul Hadi Nasser, Deputy Chairman of the Cycling Federation of the Afghan province of Herat, started from the city of Turgundi on October 9. Their route passes through the provinces of Herat, Farah, Nimroz, Helmand and Kandahar. All the way, the Davandar team expects to overcome and reach the Afghan-Pakistani border in the Spin-Boldak region in the south of the country in 16 days.

The Consulate General of Turkmenistan in Herat supported the initiative of Abdul Hadi Nasser and welcomed the sports action that draws public attention to the social and economic significance of the TAPI gas pipeline for the Afghan people.

In the course of communication with the leader of Davandar, it was decided to continue holding similar events, activating the cycling movement in Afghanistan and promoting the TAPI project.

Upon the return of a group of cycling activists to Herat, it is planned to organize a ceremony of their meeting with the participation of representatives of the Turkmen Consulate General, who will present gifts to the members of the team.

The TAPI bike ride received extensive coverage in the Afghan media and generated a positive response from local communities to such a clear call for the practical implementation of the project.
